Some of the images I did for fashion graphic student Rebekah Neal thursday. A rather suggestive and erotic approach to sportswear

PANASONIC 151 VS 5D MK II

March 13th 2012

For those following me on twitter most people already are aware that I am trying to work on a video piece at the moment.

I wanted to take you along the journey of going in to the moving image with me.

Before I can start filming my actual images I am trying to figure out all the technicalities of video work. Working with lights, choosing cameras etc.

I tried using a Panasonic 151 but hatet the look of it

Video often show too much, in my opinion. That is why I rather wanted to work with a 5D Mark II and take advantage of the shallow depth of field

KIM

March 07th 2012

Recently I took part in the AOP Student crit opportunity on the AOP site. I got some valuable feedback on my dark cinematic portraits that I wanted to take advantage of and keep pushing the project. So this is just a recent shot of my friend Kim as a part of my ongoing project.

LET ME GO

March 04th 2012

The other day I did some portfolio images for Sofie from HandS' (www.hands-music.com) commercial modelling portfolio.

As we did that I also took the time to make a few film clips with the 5D Mark II. Edited roughly and spontaneously this is the outcome. (I used a remix of one of HandS' songs as a background)

SURREALISM

February 23rd 2012

This is an old image, exhibited winter 2010 at Southampton City Art Gallery for the group show our University class had.

I only just recently photographed it to keep a digital version. It only lived as a print made by experimenting with exposing paper in the dark room with two different negatives. I was trying to make something by accident in a way of just doing automatic work, inspired by the great surrealists.

WHO SAID PORTRAITS HAD TO BE STILL?

February 21st 2012

My most recent work has been rewarded by kind words from my tutors, and others I have showed it to and I am glad.

During last autumn Patrick Ytting (composer, pianist) and I started collaborating on the idea of being in a different state of mind. As everyone know this happens when we are asleep, or on drugs etc, but we wanted to experiment with music to see how someone would react carefully listening to music, concentrating on it, in an ideal space. We choose to do this in a church and the results were just what I was hoping they would be.

When being photographed we put on a mask, and I think we do so to protect us. Perhaps we do not want to be confronted by ourselves, or just make sure that we are immortalized as pretty human beings. But who said that a portraited of someone had to be a still image? When filming these four musicians/music students they seem to forget about the camera filming them, eventually. Because of constant changing technology moving image is now more relevant than ever and some predicts it will completely kill the still image. I don't think so, but definetly wish to experiment with new ways to push boundaries of photography.

I guess posting a vimeo-video will never justify how it looked on a gallery wall, but it's the best I can do for now. On a gallery wall they were exhibited next to eachother, looped.

Here's the work
